Okay so I spend a lot of time on the computer doing things for work, play, and to scratch the curiosity itch. I use many programs that help my work flow seamlessly and make life a lot easier. Which is why I made this post! Nothing is more irritating than watching people that I know stumble through programs, applications, and general user interface features on a Mac OS X system. Sometimes they fumble away and insist on using useless movements that can be resolved with some quick and simple keyboard shortcuts.

Here are some easy ways to make your Mac experience a lot easier and more productive.

Take “Command” and “Control” of your Mac

Some of these key shortcuts are so easy and used by many but you would be surprised how many people do not know these “command key” shortcuts.

Everyday Shortcuts

1. Command + T = this shortcut allows you to easily create a new tab in your Firefox, Safari, even Opera Browser. This is very useful if you find yourself opening a new browser evertime you want to see a
new website

2. Command + Option Key + U - This will bring up a the source page of the site that you are currently looking at. This is commonly used by web masters for a quick look at the web page structure. This is an easy way to pick out HTML code that needs some fixing. So if you are a designer or just like to make sites. Try this one out and see how your code is looking without opening your FTP client(Forklift: Great Mac FTP Client with server side editing) or Dreamweaver.

3. Control + Tab - Allows you to move between open tabs on your Firefox Browsers.
4. Command + F - This allows you to find any type of HTML text within the web page that you are viewing. Great way to find what you are looking for if you are to lazy to read the entire document. This Tool works in Firefox and Safari and also highlights the keyword you are looking for! (I like the look in Safari much better than Firefox.

5. Command + O - This opens your finder without you having to scroll your mouse all the way over to your dock and clicking on your finder icon.

6. Command “Q” - Have you ever wondered if their was an easier way to Quit your application that you are not using at the moment. Well here is the easiest way! Select whatever application that you are using by clicking in the frame of the application or just click the icon in your dock. Then simple use the Command “Q” shortcut and your application will instantly stop. But wait thats not it!

7. Command “H” - This short is useful if you are just tired of all the open windows on your desktop. Of course you can use spaces but then it gets confusing which space has the application that you are using…blah blah.. Command “H” hides the program that your are currently not using but want to keep running in the background. This is helpful for large memory hogging applications like Photoshop! You can just hide it rather than quit the app. So that in case you want to use it again later you don’t have to wait for the startup time again.

8. Command “Tab” - This shortcut brings up a nice looking dock of all the applications that are being used at that particular moment.

Will there be a pre-pay version of the 3g iPhone?

Currently, no. At&t offered the original first generation iPhone through its pre paid phone plane called GoPhone, but carrier reps confirmed that they will not offer a GoPhone feature for the new 3G iPhone

If I already have the first Generation iPhone, would I have to sign a new contract to get the new one?…

Yes, you will have to sign a new two year contract with At&t. Even if you have a contract with them, your new service contract will overlap you old plan. But you can still pay the same price as a new customer would for the 8 gb and 16 gb.

Has Apple done anything that allows the users to change their own battery themselves?

No…. the iPhone battery is still under close wraps and sealed away in a tightly fitted shell. But if you absolutely want to learn how to change the battery yourself. Here is a tutorial on how to change your own iPhone battery.

Will the new iPhone have cut and paste like the Blackberry(Crackberry)?

No still no cut, paste, or searching! But I am sure that someone for those hack/dev teams will come up with something soon..

Contact Search- anyone who has a iPhone knows that this is the most important feature. Just tap a few letter in your contact search and find your contacts fast.  Although this might be the end of the cool scroll feature used for finding contacts.

Apple’s newest version of iPhone is said to be released some time in June this year.

Apples version 2.0 is rumored to be ready for At&t 3G network… OHH ahh.. What doe this mean? Well it means that you have to throw away your BS verizon contract and join all of your friends that have At&t.. Oh did I mention that if you have a older version of the iPhone, that you should find some sucker to pawn it off on So that you can have the newest version.

Just kidding but seriously here is a list of some of the new details about the new iphone:

• The first thing people will notice: the 2nd gen iPhone will be about the same size and shape as the first gen.
• It will, of course, have 3G. And proper GPS!
• The most noticeable physical difference is back of the phone is no longer metal — the whole thing is glossy black, from top to bottom. The volume buttons are now chrome.
• Because it’s got a little less metal to deal with, it doesn’t have quite as many angular edges. The battery is (still) not removable.
• The phone itself will be slightly thicker than the first gen device.
• The headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and will finally be flush with the body.
• The device itself uses roughly the same size and resolution screen as the first generation product.
• No solid word on battery life or storage capacity

Easy Time Machine Tips

Hey guys!! I found a nice little tip that helps you tweak your time machine and make it easier to find but yet also lets you remove it from your dock. I am always trying to find a tool to keep my dock clean of useless icons or applications that I rarely use. Plus finding nifty apps that you completely removed from the dock later down the road is so much fun. You know the feeling when you find a app that you used to use but forgot about! Yipee!

I thought that I would put out a list of the top 5 Mac apps that I love and use daily to give everyone a short review of what works.

1. AppZapper

This is a great little app for those of you who know how much of a pain it is to erase all of the files that a program scatters throughout your hard drive. AppZapper does all the hard work for you and finds the files for you and deletes them. This is also good since their are so many free download trialsout there that you use once and forget about.

2. Pixelmator

Pixelmator is great if you want to learn how to become more efficient with a photoshop type program. I especially like this program because it is so much cheaper than a version of Photoshop.
3. 1 Password

This brilliant security app does exactly what it says! You can now have one password for all your online accounts. Some programs claim to be able to do this feature but fall way short. 1Password works with Safari,Flock, and Firefox. Once you have saved the password you can access it from any browser that use.

4. Transmit

Great tool that I found from a post on Appleintellect.com But I also use a free tool called Filezilla that I have on my PC.

5. VectorDesigner

Great designer tool that lets you create vector shapes and designs. I especially like the text on line feature that lets you attach a shape with any text that you like.

The update includes over 40 fixes that will tweak your Mac back on track. For those of you that leave your Mac on all the time like me you might not have noticed that update. But checking for updates that have been released by Apple for you computer is easy as One, Two, … actuallythat is it. Their is only two steps! Sorry I could not make it more complicated. Installation

To update to Safari 3.1, use Apple Software Update or a standalone installer. You only need to use one of these methods to update your computer.

Software Update

Software Update will automatically check for the latest Apple software using the Internet. (You might have followed a Software Update link to this article to learn more about the update.) If your computer is not up-to-date, other available software updates will appear.

Standalone installer

Download the update installer and run it manually. This is a useful option when you need to update multiple computers but only want to download the update once.

Hello there fellow Apple enthusiasts.

I would like to say that this blog has been a little biased to a brilliant little invention that you may know about called the iPhone. I promise to do more talking about the other wonderful products that Apple has to offer in some later post. BUT.. for now lets focus on what is important… and that is the iPhone and the various ways that you can make it truly your own iPhone. I mean after all that is probably the main reason why you are here in the first place.

I found a nice little resource that has all of the iPhone tools in one place for your download pleasure. It is called Jailbreak 101.
